Several Key Child Care
Related Bills Passed
Several key child care-related bills have recently passed during the 2026 Indiana legislative session. These changes will have a direct impact on our field:
- HB 1018: Simplifies grant eligibility for school-age child care by modernizing transportation requirements.
- HB 1152: Protects the rights of providers by preventing HOAs from prohibiting legally licensed in-home child care (Class I homes).
- HB 1177: Expands the employer child care tax credit, encouraging more businesses to invest in child care solutions for their employees. A big shout out to the Boone County EDC. Their education efforts during the legislative process were instrumental in getting this passed.
