Proposed Changes to Child Care Licensing Rules 2026

The Office of Early Childhood and Out-of-School Learning (OECOSL) has proposed updates to child care center and child care home rules to make the rules clearer, reduce paperwork, and continue to keep children healthy and safe.

The public may make comments from June 3 – July 6, 2026. The public comment period allows everyone to voice any questions, ideas, or concerns they may have and may do so in one, or more, of the following ways:

• Attend the in-person event on July 6, 2026.
  • Location: Conference Center Room 17 – Harrison Hall in the Government Center South Building.
  • Child Care Home Rule – 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. ET
  • Child Care Center Rule – 11 a.m. – noon ET
• Attend the July 6 meeting virtually 10 a.m. – noon ET
